P3-C

P3-C: Advantages of using generated reviews for Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

User generated reviews and content for social media websites come in a wide range of purposes, such as forums, reviews, blogs and social media posts, such as a status on Facebook, a tweet on Twitter or a post on Instagram.

Whenever users are creating their own content on a social media page– whether it’s a full blog post, a photo or just a comment on a Facebook page – it’s user generated content.

The number of individuals that engage in User-Generated Content reviews at least once per month has grown by 32 million between 2008-2013.

Reviews on social media sites allows people to speak their mind and voice their opinion on a product.

Amazon.com is an example of this, as consumers can speak their minds about the products in their reviews. The consumer doesn’t gain anything by providing an opinion – the purpose is to connect with and inform other users on that site.

Ford gave a new Fiesta to 100 industry bloggers. In exchange, the bloggers recorded and discussed their experiences participating challenges set by Ford. This is helpful as it gets people talking about the brand and people are advertising the brand themselves.

This clever idea led to 6.2 million YouTube views, 40 million Twitter impressions and to 6,000 pre-launch orders of the Fiesta.

Another example of user generated reviews is Facebook's review button on Facebook pages such as bars or restaurants. Users can select a rating out of five star to give the place and write a comment about their time here. This is helpful to other users as they can read this review and decide if they want to visit that place.

Advantages:

By having reviews on social media sites, this can help you understand what services they are looking for and what issues there are on certain products.

Customer Satisfaction- With reviews online, this increases customer satisfaction as a user can find what they’re looking for easier.

Trustworthy content: Users trust reviews of other people on social media sites as they do not have a reason to lie, which therefore makes people believe that the reviews are trustworthy.

Disadvantages of reviews and user generated content within social media:

The main problem with user generated content and reviews is that even though people have no reason to lie on a review; they could easily be lying.

Also some information could easily be biased and therefore makes the review simply untrustworthy.
